We will hold two events for our sweet Jane.
The first one I don’t want publicized in the paper, as I don’t have proper authority yet to hold this event. It will be a “memorial procession” next Tuesday September 9th at 6:15 pm in the Grandview Cemetery at the west end of Mountain Ave. Feel free to pass along this message to anyone you think might want to attend.
Jane did not want a funeral service. Instead she requested a New Orleans style Second Line procession where the music starts out somber and ends upbeat and happy. She wanted to provide a release of our sorrow and replace it with positive energy. She believed a procession was the best way to do this. She also requested to hold this event in one of her favorite workout places.
Please leave close-in parking at the cemetery for those who need it. Dress is casual. Even running clothes are fine. Many folks can ride their bikes to the cemetery. For those driving, please park in the lot off Mountain Ave near the Fort Collins Housing Authority building (1715 W Mountain) and softball fields and walk the 1/8 mile to the cemetery. (This lot is east of the cemetery).
I will read a short prayer and then we will all walk the mile loop in the cemetery while listening to some music Jane requested.
In honor of Jane – be prompt. Jane was always on time.
The second event will be a celebration of Jane’s life where we can share stories, laughter, food and drink. This will be up at Lory State Park. I’ll send out a message when I know the date. My thinking right now is that this event will be held in October.
Thank you for your continued outpouring of love. It truly helps.
