Info from Tom Schipper about the FCRC’s Thursday evening training runs from Maxwell Open Space:
Thursday night runs will be meeting at the Maxwell Open Space parking area at 6:00 PM with the intent to do an out and back on the Horsetooth Half course. We will be meeting at that location from March 14 through April 18. Check the Web site again after April 18th for our summer location and time.

Other training runs are listed on our Training Runs page.

The horsetooth half will be my first 1/2 marathon. OK was thinking it would be a good idea to run part of the course before race day. Is that what this Thursday night group is for?
What does it means to do an “out and back”?
Do I need to sign up anywhere?
Thanks in advance for answering my questions 🙂
Absolutely, this would be a good training run for the Horsetooth Half!
“Out and back” means you run along a route, then turn back and retrace what you ran to the start. (As opposed to a “loop” course.) The advantage of this is that you can go whatever distance you want—if others want to run 6 miles and you only want to run 4, you can run 2 miles with the others and then turn around and run back.
It also makes it possible to easily regroup for anyone who gets far behind (just turn around before the others and the others will catch up).
Plus it’s impossible to get lost!
You don’t need to sign up anywhere for this training run. Just show up. If you aren’t a member of the FCRC yet, don’t sweat it… no one will ask and you can always sign up later.
Thank you very much for this opportunity and especially to Tom for escorting me during my first group run, it was amazing and I will definitly come again. Thank you
