FireKracker 5k – July 4th

15th Annual Race Presented by The Fort Collins Running Club

FORT COLLINS – Start your Fourth of July festivities with the 15th annual FireKracker 5k in City Park. Walk, jog, run or race! Just make sure to include a healthy start to your holiday celebration. All ages and abilities are invited to participate.

The 15th Annual FireKracker 5K Race, sponsored by Raintree Athletic Club, is on Friday, July 4th in City Park, Fort Collins. This year the event debuts an exciting new format adding an Elite/Competitive 5k Race after the Citizen’s 5k Run/Walk and followed by a kids race (~1200m). Both the Citizen’s and Elite races have new USATF certified courses.

The Citizen’s 5k Run/Walk starts at 7:30 am, the Elite/Competitive 5k Race starts at 8:45 am, followed by the Kid’s Race starting at ~ 9:15 am. Race day registration is open from 6:15-7:15 AM, online registration is open now, sign up today and save!

The Fort Collins Running Club has put up a cash prize purse totaling $3500 for the Elite Race, awarding the top 5 male and female finishers and 1st male and female Masters (40+ yrs.) runners the following amounts: 1st – $600, 2nd – $400, 3rd – $300, 4th – $200, 5th – $100, and 1st Masters – $150. The Citizen’s Race will award custom pottery by a local artist to the top 3 overall male & female and top 3 male and female age group finishers.

The Elite race starting after the conclusion of the Citizen’s 5k Run/Walk will be run on a certified 4-loop course around City Park’s Sheldon Lake offering spectators a great showcase of competitive running! Pre-registration is available through the website, online at or in person at Altitude Running and Runners Roost in Fort Collins. Registration fees are: $25 for Adults, $20 Fort Collins Running Club Members, $20 for Youth (17 and younger) $10 for Veterans and active military, or a family 4-pack for $80. Registration the day of the event is $30 for all categories. Each race entry includes a commemorative race shirt, chip timing, chance to win giveaway prizes, and post race refreshments.
