Fossil Creek T&H Recap

Thanks to all those who came out last week to the Fossil Creek Tortoise & Hare last Sunday. We had a record turnout of 254 runners. That is officially a T&H record by over 50 participants. And what an incredible morning for it — blue sky, bright sun, and nice crisp temps. There was a large number of new runners to the race, which is great. We hope you enjoyed it!

Congratulations to overall winner, and first timer Carly Callan. And congratulations also to Donald Coleman who – despite finishing 17th overall – was our top points scorer as the first finisher with a previous T&H time.

Once again, the surge of runners around the scratch handicap caused something of a backup at the finish line. We apologize for that.

We also tested our new timing system. Fifty runners were selected to use chips and all of them worked successfully. Plan to see T&H adopting a timing system in the coming races for all runners. Sooner rather than later we’ll be fully chip timed and 100% chute-less. That will be a win for everyone.

Registration for the next T&H is already open. This one will be on Sunday, 2/3 at Edora Park.

Edora Park 8K (5 miles)

[Course map] Runners start in the Edora Park parking lot near the baseball fields—enter from the Stuart Avenue entrance. Head east on the Spring Creek Trail, running under Riverside Avenue, Timberline Road and Prospect Road via the tunnels. Make a right on the Poudre Trail and pass back under Prospect and make left on Sharp Point Drive. Run alongside the Prospect Ponds Natural Area to the turnaround beyond Midpoint Drive. Runners then retrace their steps back to the Edora Park finish.

Registration closes at 12pm (noon) on Saturday, 2/2.

We’re also looking for volunteers. Click here to sign up. We love your help!

See you in a few weeks.
