What’s New With the Adaptive Running Program?

FCRC Adapative Athlete Running Program Updates

The Fort Collins Running Club (FCRC) has some exciting opportunities for the June, July, and August Adaptive (Athlete) Nights! FCRC and the City of Fort Collins Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program have joined forces and the summer Adaptive Nights are advertised in the City’s Recreator!

What does this mean? The Adaptive Nights will remain the same with everyone of all abilities invited to join us. However, with the listing in the Recreator, we will have outreach to new adaptive athletes registering through the ARO program. These athletes may not be runners and
just want to try it out or have former running experience. Their disabilities can be cognitive, visually impaired, deaf, physical, or wheelchair bound.

What do we need?

Runner guiding adaptive athleteWe will need volunteers to guide and help these athletes. We have set up two nights for guide/volunteer training at Altitude Running. These are on Wednesday, June 18th and Thursday, July 17 th at 6:00pm. Please register here for a session. If you can’t attend a session and would like to volunteer, please email Lisa.

Volunteering

We have a volunteer sign up for the three Adaptive Nights for the summer. Please sign up and you are welcome to help at one, two, or all three. We will be in touch with you before each of the Adaptive Nights with instructions and what to expect. All of them take place at Altitude Running at 6:00pm. The dates are:
Monday, June 23rd
Monday,July 28th
Monday, August 25th

Thank you in advance for helping out!
