Fort Collins Running Club offers new 5k training program
Go from zero to 5k by the 4th of July
[Fort Collins, Colo]- The Fort Collins Running Club announced today it is offering a new zero to 5k training program beginning April 12th. The 12-week program will help those who want to run a 5k prepare for the FireKracker 5k on the 4th of July. The FireKracker 5k is a family event that starts and ends in City Park in Fort Collins near the holiday parade route.
“We live in an active community and we continue to hear from people that they want to run a 5k, but don’t know where to begin and need some motivation,” said Katie Quatrano, Fort Collins Running Club. “Creating an opportunity and support system for anyone interested is a great way to help them achieve that goal.”
The training program will include group mentoring, a daily training plan, a weekly group run, T-shirt, and interaction with other runners of all abilities. This program will also have options for those who have run a 5k but want to improve their time.
“Challenge yourself. Challenge your co-workers, friends and family members to train with you,” said Quatrano. The zero to 5k program is free for Fort Collins Running Club members and is the third session of Running U, a program that has helped over 120 runners train for the Horsetooth half marathon this spring and kept Fort Collins running through the winter months!
Anyone interested in the program pays the annual membership fee of $20 to join the club and then registers for the “Running U” program. There is no additional cost. The club membership also allows runners discounts on numerous other races throughout the year, including a free Tortoise and Hare series during winter.
