New: FCRC’s Exclusive Race Calculator!

Have you ever wondered what your predicted time will be for your next Tortoise & Hare race? Have you tried to make sense of our T&H algorithm only to be reminded of how much you detested high school algebra? Well don’t worry; thanks to computer programming, you don’t have to do any math yourself to forecast your next running event.

Behold the Fort Collin’s Running Club’s new Race Calculator! Not only can you use its wizard-like powers to predict your time for the next T&H, you can use it for future races of any distance!

In addition, you can also use it to list your individual results for past races in our database. Note: currently, the calculator only works for people who have run a Tortoise & Hare race since October 2011. That’s because the calculator uses your own historical data, and the only historical data currently in our database is for the 2011-2012 T&H series.

Another disclaimer: this calculator is in beta and the predictions are not guaranteed to be accurate or even what the race director uses as your predicted time for your next T&H race! Also, do not use this calculator to try to determine when you should show up for the next T&H race. Please show up early (e.g., 7:45 A.M.) for the sake of the race director!

Reminder for Sharin’ O’ the Green 5k Living Social users

Remember that if you managed to score one of the 51% off Living Social vouchers for the Sharin’ O’ the Green 5k, you still have to sign up on active.com for the race (using your voucher number so it doesn’t cost you anything additional)!

http://www.active.com/register/index.cfm?EVENT_ID=1997124&CHECKSSO=0

Select the Individual Registration w/ T-shirt option if you want the T-shirt. Or if you don’t want it, you can select Individual Registration (no T-shirt) and Living Social users will be given the option of donating the T-shirt cost to Partners Mentoring Youth.

51% off Sharin’ O’ the Green

Living Social has a 51% off special going on for the Sharin’ O’ the Green. ($17 instead of the normal $35 price.) This is relevant for all of you who’d like to run the 5k race right before our club walks in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade just a couple blocks away in Old Town!

The catch is you must purchase this deal through this Living Social link by Friday, February 17 before 11:59 P.M. So don’t delay!

Horsetooth Half-Marathon & Sharin’ O’ the Green News

The first climb of the Horsetooth Half Marathon is quite steep!

Tomorrow—Sunday, February 12—some FCRC’ers will be meeting at the Maxwell Open Space parking lot and start heading up the first hill of the Horsetooth Half Marathon at 7:30 A.M. While this run is open to anyone, note that this is an informal, “unorganized” training run and that representing it as otherwise could get us in trouble with the county! Please run while being courteous and respectful to others on the road and in surrounding neighborhoods.

Other information, including registering for the Horsetooth Half Marathon and Sharin’ O’ the Green 5k (after which the FCRC will be walking in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade) is below, as written by Connie.

Speaking of the Horsetooth Half, if you are going to sign up for the race, in order to take advantage of your $20 FCRC discount($45 instead of $65) you will need to sign up in person at either Runner’s Roost or Foot of the Rockies and not online.

If you are planning on running the Sharin’ O’ the Green this information was passed on to me by Libby J. “Everyone needs to sign up through Active.com but no fee will be charged. The race organization is picking up the fee. The other thing is that it is possible to register a second person. After you have registered yourself, a little doodie comes up and asks if you’d like to register another person.”

That’s all for now. Hope to see you tomorrow!
