Need a New Year’s Resolution? Train for the Horsetooth Half Marathon – For Free!

Fort Collins, CO- Do you need a goal to get or keep you moving through the winter months? Do you want to conquer the oldest, most scenic and rewarding race in Fort Collins? Join the Fort Collins Running Club’s free Running U training program beginning January 3, 2016 and get ready to run the Horsetooth Half Marathon on April 17, 2016.

Whether you are a first time half marathoner or looking to improve your half marathon time, this free 14-week training program will help you achieve those goals. Join hundreds of runners of all abilities as they build up their miles, learn about running, and find new running partners. If you want to get started early, join the Fort Collins Running Club’s Tortoise & Hare 6k race on December 6, 2015 from Spring Park. All Tortoise and Hare races are free for Club members!

About Fort Collins Running Club: The mission of the Fort Collins Running Club is to promote running in Fort Collins and the surrounding communities by: providing an enjoyable, supportive, and positive atmosphere; providing competitive and participatory events for runners of all abilities; and providing a forum for educating the public about the benefits of running.

Membership is $20 per year for individuals and $10 for additional family members. All members receive $20 off their Horsetooth Half Marathon registration fees! In addition to free club races and training activities, members also enjoy discounts at local running stores and many club-sponsored races. About the Horsetooth Half Marathon: Now in its 43rd year, this scenic and challenging course is a Fort Collins classic. The Horsetooth Half Marathon runs from Hughes Stadium to the finish line party at New Belgium Brewery, tackling climbs such as “Monster Mountain,” “North Dam,” and Bingham Hill as it runs along the eastern shores of Horsetooth Reservoir, before connecting with the Poudre River recreational trail for the run into the finish.
